TDT CPAs and Advisors has been helping small businesses thrive since being founded in 1975. We are a firm with 40 team members, including 3 Partners, across 6 locations in the great state of Iowa: Burlington, Cedar Rapids, Centerville, Fairfield, Mt. Pleasant, and Oskaloosa. We serve clients nationwide through 3 core service areas: Advisory, Tax Services and Wealth Management Services.

Who we’re looking for..

An experienced Senior Associate with a tax focus who aligns to our values and has a high level of professionalism to best partner with our team and serve our clients. We have flexible location options in one of six Iowa office locations: Cedar Rapids, Burlington, Mount Pleasant, Fairfield, Centerville, or Oskaloosa.

What you’ll do.

  • With limited supervision of a manager or partner perform tax, accounting, and advisory assignments
  • Develop quality client relationships and partner to best serve their needs
  • Use developed technical skills to deliver high quality work aligned to professional and firm standards
  • Consult with clients to develop a basic understanding of their financial affairs and the scope of their tax liabilities
  • Prepare complicated tax returns and returns on dissolution or liquidation
  • Prepare and index working papers
  • Review previous tax returns and financial documents to identify missing or incomplete information or documentation
  • Review all supplied financial information for accuracy
  • Use various accounting technology to prepare tax returns and submit for review as part of the internal firm review process
  • Calculate taxes owed or refunds due to client; consult tax law publications for guidance on unusual situations
  • Maintain understanding and knowledge of changes in tax law by reading professional literature or attending tax seminars and training courses
  • Meet time constraints, billable hours targets, and client deadlines
  • Participate in planning, scheduling, and reviewing client engagements
  • As needed, mentor or train entry-level associates
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Travel occasionally (same-day and overnight) for work at clients, firm meetings, or seminars

What you’ll need.

  • A strong alignment and willingness to consistently demonstrate TDT’s core values (Honest, Authentic, United, Devoted)
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in public accounting with complex tax capabilities
  • CPA or Enrolled Agent certification strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Power Point, Excel, Teams, Share Point, etc.) and the ability to stay ahead of the curve with continual technology advancements
  • Experience using various Thomson Reuters software applications preferred
  • Demonstrated high level of discretion and confidentiality
  • Ability to execute and collaborate effectively in a hybrid environment (onsite and virtual

A seasonal tax associate to partner with our team and serve our clients throughout the 2023 tax season. We have flexible location options in one of six Iowa office locations: Cedar Rapids, Burlington, Mount Pleasant, Fairfield, Centerville, or Oskaloosa.

What you’ll do.

  • Under direct supervision perform tax and accounting assignments
  • Prepare tax returns including but not limited to 1040s
  • Prepare and index working papers
  • Use developed technical skills to deliver high quality work aligned to professional and firm standards

What you can expect:

  • Paid hourly (commensurate with experience) with overtime pay when applicable
  • Business casual work environmen
  • Monday to Friday schedule (no weekends)
